Isabelle Chang (Rice) - $2,500Isabelle is a senior at Rice University studying Civil and Environmental Engineering and Social Policy Analysis. She’s been involved with her university’s Engineers Without Borders chapter in various capacities. Currently, they are working on designing and implementing a series of 4 bridges for a small village in northern Peru. In her free time, she enjoys playing viola and volunteering at the garden on campus.
Lizbeth Armenta (UH) - $2,000Lizbeth Armenta is attending the University of Houston as a third-year student pursuing her Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering. Her love for helping others led her to work as a math and science tutor at her community college and she currently serves as the publicity chair in the UH ASCE Student Chapter. Working as a tutor and serving as the publicity chair has allowed her to be recognized for her academic performance and diversified her leadership and teamwork skills. Moreover, Lizbeth interned this past summer at BGE, Inc. in the transportation roadway department furthering her interest in the transportation sector. Her goal is to help design safer and more efficient infrastructure for individuals to get to their desired locations safely, impacting the engineering industry.
Jacquelyn Cazares (UT Tyler HEC) - $2,000Jacquelyn is a committed and motivated student actively pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Tyler Houston Engineering Center. With a strong passion for transportation and sustainable engineering, she is focused on gaining expertise in areas such as transportation systems, environmental design, and project management. Emma Larson (Rice) - $2,500Emma Larson is a junior at Rice University, pursuing a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering with a concentration in Urban Infrastructure, Reliability, and Management. Originally from the Greater Boston area, Emma’s interest in transportation systems was sparked by the efficiency and interconnectedness of Boston's transit options, inspiring her to study civil engineering. At Rice, she works as an undergraduate researcher at the Severe Storm Prediction, Education, and Evacuation from Disasters Center (SSPEED Center) where she works on hydraulic modeling for flood mitigation projects and green infrastructure research. Emma is passionate about improving transportation accessibility, equity, and sustainability, and she envisions a career focused on developing efficient, environmentally-friendly urban infrastructure systems.
Gwyneth Perez (Rice) - $2,000Gwyneth Perez is a junior at Rice University, studying Civil Engineering. She is from Houston, Texas and hopes to go into the transportation field working with transportation drainage. She currently holds two jobs to help herself pay for college, so this scholarship is extremely beneficial. Outside of school, she really enjoys playing music. She has picked up 8 instruments!
Jennifer Valle Camacho (UT Tyler HEC) - $2,000Jennifer is an enthusiastic civil engineering student at the University of Texas at Tyler Houston Engineering Center, actively involved in the Steel Bridge Club and leadership roles within the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) and American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) student chapters. With hands-on experience in structural engineering and a recent internship at TranSystems focusing on highway design, Jennifer is passionate about improving transportation systems. Her long-term goal is to contribute to safer, more efficient highways while shaping the future of transportation design and infrastructure.

Vivian Otieno (TSU) - $2,500Vivian Otieno is a student at Texas Southern University, pursuing a Master of Science degree in Transportation Planning and Management and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from The University of Nairobi, Kenya. Vivian is very passionate about transportation industry and seeks to become a global expert in the field of sustainable transportation and help provide communities with accessible, convenient, safe and high-quality transportation system. Vivian works as a graduate research assistant at Texas Southern University, Department of Transportation studies where she carries out research work on electric vehicles and sustainable transportation systems and was honored to present a poster on her research work during Texas Southern University, 2024 Research Week. During summer 2024, Vivian worked as a Transportation Engineering Intern with TEI Planning and Design Inc where she was able to design ADA accessible bus stops for Houston METRO, carried out traffic impact analysis, and designed pedestrian safety signals, and traffic signals. Before moving to the United States, Vivian worked with Kenya National Highways Authority as a transportation engineer taking part in road construction projects from inception to delivery of the final product. Additionally, she served as the president of Institute of Transportation Engineers, Texas Southern University chapter (2023/2024) and is an active member and volunteers with different transportation professional bodies such as WTS, COMTO, ASCE, and YPT.

Sania Pirouzi (TSU) - $2,000Sania Pirouzi is currently in her fourth semester studying Transportation Management and Planning at Texas Southern University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in urban planning and a master’s degree in urban design. Sania works as a research assistant in the Department of Transportation at TSU. Her previous research involves using space syntax to assess safety in public areas. Currently, she focuses on studying electric vehicle charging stations and bicycle driver behavior. She is a member of ITE and WTS.
